1. NITI Aayog’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), has launched AIM iCREST [source]

  • AIM iCREST – a first of it’s kind Indian Incubator Capabilities enhancement program for a Robust Ecosystem focused on creating high performing Startups.
  • In partnerships with Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Wadhwani Foundation

2. Faceless Assessment Scheme[source]

  • statutory scheme by Ministry of Finance which while eliminating physical interface between the taxpayer and tax officers, to the extent technologically possible, intends to optimise utilisation of resources through economies of scale and functional specialisation and introducing a team-based assessment with dynamic jurisdiction.
  • Benefits to the tax-payers include ease of submissions of their statutory compliances obviating multiple visit to the tax office, and no wastage of time in waiting for the tax officer.
  • For the system, benefits include a standardisation of approach and uniform application of law in the context of a uniform set of facts.

3. Global Methane Budget by Global Carbon Project launched[source]

  • In 2017, Global methane emissions were 9% higher than the 2006-07 emissions.
  • Contributions:
    • Agriculture and waste: 60%
    • Fossil fuels: 40%
  • Concentration of methane: 1875 parts per billions (2.5 times pre industrial times)

4. eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence System)[source]

  • Aims to strengthen universal immunisation through real time information on vaccine stocks and combines technology, governance and human resources, creating a big data architecture.
  • Useful during Covid-19 vaccine tracking.
  • Has reached 32 states and UTs. (remaining: Sikkim, Ladakh, Chandigarh and A&N Islands).

5. Projects that not require NBWL permission[source]

  • Small scale and railway projects less than 20,000 sq. metres and hydropower plants with capacity under 25 MW, if located within eco-sensitive zones outside protected areas which do not require environmental clearance.
  • NBWL’s standing committee approval will be required for projects that are located in areas linking one protected area to another like tiger reserves.

  • Popularise science from 6th to 11th standard.

  • In all other cases of commercial coal mining, government has allowed 100% FDI through automatic route.
